WORD-Z
DESCRIPTION
Word-Z is a simple game, yet challenging. The concept is simple, create
the "Word Z" by completing all three words. Simple, but you can only
discard up to 9 letters. And oh yes, you also must complete the words by
linking them together. For example, the last character of WORD 1 will be
the first character of WORD 2 and the last character of WORD 2 is the
first character of WORD 3. This example shows you how it works:
WORD 1 ----> C A T
A
B A T <---- WORD 3
WORD 2 ---------^
Words must be a valid 3 letter word (some abbreviations are OK too). The
dictionary is loaded with over 800 three letter words (and the sysop may
have added a few of his own).
SCORING
What's any game without some way to score your results? Each letter is
worth a predetermined point. Rather than recreate the wheel, I've
decided to use the letter values that the popular board game SCRABBLE
uses. The points are as follows:
2 POINTS - DG 3 POINTS - BCMP 4 POINTS - FHVWY
5 POINTS - K 8 POINTS - JX 10 POINTS - QZ
All other letters not listed above are worth 1 point each.
Once the Word Z is completed, the program validates all words and then
calculates the point values for each word it's found in it's dictionary.
As an additional bonus, word #2 is worth double it's value and word #3
is worth triple it's value. So, if word #3 was CAT, you'd get 15 points
for the word.
That's it, pretty simple, eh? Enjoy the game!
